Demulsifiers are used to treat crude oil upstream to remove impurities such as water, heavy salts and waxes. These products are rosin alkoxylates, polyetheramines, castor coblock polymers, fatty alcohols, propoxylated fatty amines, fatty acids, linear alcohol ethoxylates, and mixtures of amines and alcohol ethoxylates. The proper combination of these products to produce a demulsifier will depend on the properties of the crude oil and the conditions submitted, and the products will be individual for each specific area.
